13 years, 10 months and forever

In my dream, there was a cave
Where ten thousand people lived
Men, women, old and young
(And all in between)
They had different faces,
They all had the same name (yours)

For 13 years, 10 months
And some eternity
I went there, every single night
Wanting to meet each one of them
To hear them say their names
The same name, over and over
And over, again

I searched their faces
For the squint in your eyes
For the blush on your cheeks
For the cute clefted chin held high
For the silly grin, or the pout that says
Your mad

I touched their hands, hoping
To find the grip, promised to have held
through the rough, uneven grounds
the tough rules,
fast and constantly changing,
the madness!

For 13 years, 10 months
And most of a lifetime,
I fail
To find you, or any of you,
In the ten thousand people I visited
Every night…

And then, from nowhere,
You were there!
Right in front of me,
Finding me, looking at me…
With your best suit on,
and a smile!

But long before I could summon the words
To speak, to ask…
Finally!
To tell you how happy I was…
You came close and whispered
“the dream ends tonight”
.
.
.
.

In my dream, there was a cave
Where ten thousand people lived
Men, women, old and young
(And all in between)
They had different faces,
They had different names…
